August 27, 2008 Email

Hey family- I am sorry for my short email last week. But before I forget, Amber and Kenny the password is applepie1 or applepie10 or applepie2… I don’t remember! Haha! I haven’t read your last weeks letters so I will print them today. This week has been really hard, the language is so hard I get mad at myself and frustrated. I tell myself I would be of more help if I was in a English speaking place because I can't do anything right now. I have 3 months here and I can barely talk and I can’t understand. It’s so hard. I fast every Saturday and I pray 24-7.
I have never been home sick before and I think I am now, I miss home really bad. That doesn’t mean I am not working hard cause I am, but it’s hard when I have no one to talk to and stuff. The mission is really hard, I work so hard in this language but I don’t feel like I am improving at all. I don’t know...there are times when I just break down because I want to talk and I want to help these people but I cant… I get so mad, uhhhhhhhhhh. But other that that I am doing good! I have another baptism this week. I am baptizing the wife of Ailton (the guy I baptized a couple weeks ago) SO THAT IS GOOD!!! I think they asked me to baptize her because they feel bad for me, and I can’t do the confirmation yet...but its all good.
The work on the mission is really hard, but I love it. We walk everywhere and my area is amazing I wish you could see it. It’s really hilly. It’s up and down where ever you go and tons of people. I love the food here, it is amazing! I love rice, and I love beans, I love fruit and the food on the streets (street venders). And they have good candy. Thank you mom for my package will you just send a couple of things: a pair of basketball shorts for my comp, and chunky peanut butter, and candy and what ever you think I need, haha! Thank you and I love you tons.
I will send a couple of pictures next week of my area for you all. Its nice to hear from you and how the family is. I am sorry fam for not writing everyone letters and stuff but just know that I think about you and that I love you.
The weather is hot and it rains once in a while but nothing like I heard, I haven’t used my coat yet. Today for p-day we went to this park.... it’s like the central park of Sao Paulo.... and I got to play baseball with Elder Griner and Elder Tuttle. They are from Utah. It was good to play catch.
I hope that this letter was better than last week. I had a longer time to write today. How does Zack like school? Is the jeep still there? Anything interesting happening in America? Well, I love you family. Thank you for all of the support.
Love, Elder Reiss
Please send to Syd and to the family
