A letter from President Jackson

August 6, 2008

Dear Brother and Sister Reiss,

We were delighted to meet and interview your son Monday at the CTM and then greet him yesterday morning in our home. Our new group of missionaries arrived about 9:00 am, enjoyed cinnamon rolls and drinks, and then received some training from the assistants and President Jackson and me. We then drove over to our transfer meeting, where we were all enthusiastically greeted by a chapel full of missionaries singing "Called to Serve!" I wish every parent could witness this thrilling sight! We look forward to working together with Elder Reiss as we further the work of the Kingdom here in the São Paulo Interlagos Mission. He has shown leadership and determination and we can already tell that he is a worthy representative of the Lord in this work…we feel fortunate to have him in our mission!

You will be interested to know that your son's companion is Elder Cassenote and that they will be serving in the Guarapiranga Zone in São Paulo. President Jackson assigns our best missionaries as trainers, so please be assured that Elder Reiss is in very good hands. Attached are pictures taken at our home and with his companion at the chapel.

Thank you for sharing your son with us and the people of Brazil for the next two years. We feel it a great privilege to be involved in this miraculous work together and will care for him as though he were our own.

Love,

President and Sister Jackson
